- This museum is located in Kuala Perlis, Perlis in the area surrounded by Bukit Kayang, Bukit Lambong Panah, Bukit Jagat Hutang, Bukit Wai and Bukit Menara.
- This museum was established in an area that was once site of the palace where the Royal Kedah-Perlis family resides.
- This is based on historical relics found around areas such as the Tomb of Sultan Dhiauddin Al-Mukarram Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhyiddin Mansur Shah (15th Sultan of Kedah who built a city near the Wai River which was named as Indera Kayangan).
- It was also built near the Kayang Canal which is the oldest man-made canal in Peninsular Malaysia.
- This museum was opened to the public in September 2001
